Therefore seeking support is NOT a sign of weakness, quite the contrary, it is a sign of strength and determination to make positive changes to areas of your life that are not currently working for you.

During our initial consultation we can discuss the issues that you want to look at … perhaps an unexpected change in your life has overwhelmed you? Or are you just feeling stuck and need some help to move forward? I can answer any questions you may have, also it is important to see if you will feel comfortable working with me, likewise, to see if I can offer the expertise you need. The length of therapy will be dependent on your individual needs and is usually for a mutually agreed period, I will be available to offer help and support for as long as you require.

    What is counselling?
    Counselling is a term that covers a range of talking therapies delivered by trained practitioners who work with people over a short or long period of time - to help them bring about effective change or enhance their well-being.

    What does counselling involve?
    Counselling involves the exploration of challenging life issues, and at times can be a difficult process as it can entail delving below the surface, and to talk about things we ordinarily push aside in everyday life. A counsellor will support you during this time and also point out other possible sources of help if necessary. So whoever you are; whatever you age; whatever the situation or problem you are facing; whether you are worried, depressed, confused, feeling bad about yourself, coping with unexpected change or crisis or just wanting to make some changes in your life, it can be helpful to talk things over, in confidence, with a trained counsellor.

    What will happen at the first meeting?
    During the consultation we will explore your issues in detail, you can ask me any questions also it is essential to see if you feel comfortable working with me, likewise, to see if I can offer the expertise you need.

    How long does the process take?
    It all depends on the issues that are brought by the client(s) to the session, normally a verbal contract is made at the initial consultation to meet weekly - it can be impossible to predict. Some people find that after only a very few sessions they have some clarity and focus and are ready to end the therapy, others value on-going support through their journey. There is no 'one-size-fits-all' when it comes to therapy.

    How much does individual counselling cost?
    For individuals the initial consultation and all ongoing counselling it is £55.00 via Zoom or webcam, the assessment will take approximately 1hr, and all ongoing sessions will be for 50 mins. and if your desire is face-to-face counselling the charges are £65.00 per session. Concessions are available for those unable to pay the full amount. I ask for payment in advance of all sessions. I will hold your assessment session appointment for 3 days following our initial contact to allow time for your payment to reach me.

    If you are unable to attend a pre-booked session for any reason please give as much notice as possible. Sessions that are cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged for.

    Online Video Counselling using Skype or Vsee
    At first glance - using the Internet as a type of communication for therapy may seem somewhat unconventional. However, online video counselling is an effective, confidential and convenient alternative way of working face2face.
